  • Lead a new high-impact Design & Build project from the start.

About the Role: Leading contractor on a newly awarded design & build project.

The ideal project manager should come from a main contractor background and solid geotechnical insight to lead project execution and coordinate geotechnical solutioning.

As the Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of civil/building/marine works under a design & build environment. A key part of the role involves providing high-level geotechnical input — advising on suitable construction methods based on soil conditions, ground loading, and cost/time considerations.

You are not expected to perform detailed geotechnical design or calculations, but must be able to:

  • Review and interpret PE drawings
  • Assess proposed solutions for feasibility and constructability
  • Coordinate closely with geotechnical consultants and design teams
  • Guide overall technical direction to meet site and budget constraints

You should should have high-level geotechnical solutioning knowledge—understanding types of solutions, cost/time impacts, and soil/loading conditions—but not be responsible for detailed design/calculations, which the design team handles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage end-to-end construction activities for the shipyard design & build project.
  • Possess high-level understanding of various geotechnical solutions, including their relative cost, time implications, and suitability based on soil conditions and loading.
  • Review and interpret geotechnical design drawings and calculations provided by consultants; coordinate with the geotechnical design team to resolve issues and align construction methods.
  • Provide practical construction feedback and guidance on geotechnical matters without being responsible for producing detailed design or calculations.
  • Collaborate closely with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth integration of geotechnical solutions into construction plans.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and client requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in main contractor roles, managing civil, building, or infrastructure projects.
  • Solid understanding of geotechnical engineering concepts relevant to construction (foundations, retaining structures, soil and loading conditions).
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting geotechnical design deliverables, but not producing detailed designs themselves.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with geotechnical consultants and design teams.
  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or related discipline or specialized knowledge in geotechnical engineering.
